Creating a parametric rafter.
To embed this screencast choose a size.
In the type properties you will see another box that says edit under the type parameters.
Then use a pencil to trace the outside edge of the framing square s tongue.
Select that and another dialogue box will open for you to edit the roof assembly.
Position the square with the base or raised edge on top of the rafter board.
Additional options in revit have to do with the termination of the rafters at the eaves.
The plumb or ridge cut is made at the top of the rafter.
The default is plumb cut as we have seen in the previous images.
This is where you change your materials.
To lay out a rafter with thepivot square first determine the pitch and set the square to the correct pitch on the deg.

Set the framing square on top of the rafter beam with the tongue facing the top of the rafter.
