I spent a lot of time in that save trying to figure out a console command to reset the civil war entirely and let the empire win.
Siding with stormcloaks or imperials.
The imperials fund a rebellion in atmora distracting the stormcloacks while they are vulnerable the imperials retake solitude and half of dawnstar and this is where an elder scrolls game kicks of this game can be about all of north tamriel and atmora or high rock and skyrim or morrowind and some of skyrim basically somewhere in the north.
So if you re a fan of whiterun don t pick stormcloaks.
Very cathartic and proud.
In skyrim the empire and the stormcloaks represents are fighting for dominance but is either one of them worthy of ruling the land.
You get light or heavy armors with the imperials but only two sets of light armor.
Siding with the stormcloaks makes no sense they would be unwittingly letting in the elves that they so hated.
Don t warn me again for the elder scrolls v.
I have never regretted any choice in a videogame so much as siding with the stormcloaks.
Okay let s look at it this way.
This information is even found in a book in the thalmor embassy the thalmor themselves see ulfric as an asset.
That s the same reason i joined the stormcloaks on my first playthrough.
Take you and some of the other more enthusiastic supporters on either sides stormcloaks and imperials alike people on both sides are exactly the same despite providing completely opposite arguments.
Ultimately it s down to personal preference and no you don t really miss out on anything if you choose a side.
Towards the end of the civil war whiterun sides with the imperials and depending on which side you take you ll either have to defend whiterun imperials or attack it stormcloaks.
Both sides are quite similar though the stormcloak questline felt less fleshed out than the imperial one.

Doing the whole civil war quest either way.
You get to kill a lot of people for no apparent reason other than some dispute over what the thalmor are doing half a world away.
I believe the general consensus is that imperials give you better armor while stormcloaks give you better weapons.
May not be appropriate for all ages or may not be appropriate for viewing at work.
